This week we didn’t have a lesson in the Master Keys, so what I would like to do is talk about Og Mandino and “The Greatest Salesman in the World”. [As a side note, don’t think you can’t benefit from this book because you are not in sells. We are all salesman. No matter what your occupation we are all trying to convince someone to see our way. His book will give you the skills you need in life for SUCCESS!] Back in week 19 I talked about this book and shared there were 10 scrolls, each with a different secret to becoming the greatest salesman in the world. In that blog I briefly explained the first 5. This week I would like to talk about the 6th scroll which is:
“TODAY I WILL BE MASTER OF MY EMOTIONS.”
He starts off explaining that all nature is a circle of moods and we are all a part of nature. And like in nature, i.e. tides rise and tides fall, as with us moods rise and moods fall. We all have good days and bad days.
Most of my days I have good moods, being the optimistic person I am, but there are days where I don’t have the same drive as the day before. My mood may be down…..but I have come to recognize this and I will usually say, “Today is today and tomorrow will be different or back to normal.” And sure nuff the next day I was OK!
Well…..what I have noticed since since beginning the Master Key Journey is when I am in one of those moods I don’t accept it like I use to. The old me would just dragggggg…..along…..doing the best I could, but not really being on top of my game. Because in those days I just accepted it!! It never dawned on me I could change it and how easy it is to change it if you have the right tools!! You can actually talk yourself out of a bad mood! How do I do this? (1) I acknowledge it. I will say out loud to myself, “OK John, this is not you!!!!” “You’re not in a very good mood and you need to change it!” (2) I repeat to myself very loud and with force, “I am WHOLE, PREFECT, STRONG, POWERFUL, LOVING, HARMONIOUS AND HAPPY!!” (3) I focus on the things I’m grateful for! GRATITUDE can turn your world around on a dime!!!! No mater who you are there is always some else worse off than you are.
As Og Mandino says, “Weak is he who permits his thoughts to control his actions; strong is he who forces his actions to control his thoughts.” “Each day, when I awaken, I will follow this plan of battle before I am captured by the forces of sadness, self-pity and failure.”
When you learn to master your emotions you will also learn how to read others you come in daily contact with, when they are having a “bad day”, because you will recognize it for what it is. And you will learn how not to judge people just because they may be having a bad day.
“TODAY I WILL BE MASTER MY EMOTIONS. AND WHEN I DO I WILL BE IN CONTROL OF MY DESTINY.”
And when that happens you will find the success in life you are looking!……..And I hope to see you on the beaches of the world!!!
